Pay-then-dispute strategy

A follow-up path some people use after settling

After settling, some people dispute the tradeline because the furnisher may not respond within the bureau window. This is not guaranteed to work.

Use documentation, not wishful wording

If you settle and the report still shows a wrong balance, open status, or other mismatch, your dispute should point to that mismatch with copies of your settlement and payment proof.

Do not expect accurate “paid collection” history to vanish just because you asked. Focus on verifiable errors.

Track the calendar yourself

Note when you sent the dispute and when a response is due based on the bureau’s letter. CreditRaccoon’s tracker only records what you enter. It does not contact anyone for you.

FAQ

Is pay-then-dispute guaranteed?
